  BJ -Status - Adopted!

BJCollage2Meet BJ!

He's a playful puppy in a grown up dog body! BJ is not only man's best friend but man's little shadow! This dog, once he's attached to one of the family members, will follow him/her everywhere. He is the type of dog that you can take anywhere and everywhere! He's wonderful in the car, does not pay any attention to dogs or people (and most likely cats although he has not had very many interractions), and he is extremely well behaved on the leash! He stays right with you and would be fine to be off leash as long as he's supervised.

He is easy-going and sweet towards new people and even children but he is a little shy at first so would need to be introduced slowly. He adores his crate and uses this as his escape place when stressed. He doesn't need many walks, maybe just a short one every day. He is potty trained but would need to be let out often because he cannot hold it for too long. (He would be best in a house that has someone home part time or that has a fenced in yard in which he could stay during the day). He has been hit by a car in the past and this slightly affects his gait but nothing else. Other than that, he is extremely healthy for his age and has no other health issues and has great joints. He is the most easy dog to care for and all he wants from his owner is some love! He has made it to his golden years and he deserves to finally have a wonderful home! Like humans, these are the best years of his life and he can't wait to enjoy them with you! Ok, get in line for this Great 10 yr old, operators are waiting! See BJ's Webpage

Josie -  Status - ADOPTED!!!!!

JosieCollageMeet Josie
There are 2 things everyone says when they meet Josie: first is how beautiful she is and second is how she doesn't act like she is 8 years old.  Both are true. And while she shows her age as she wears out faster than younger dogs, she has the heart of a 2-3 year old and just wants to play, play, play.

The Josie you see today is a completely different dog from the Josie we met just a few months ago.  She was brought to our house as an anxious, nervous dog who paced and panted and had clearly been through some tough times.  While she liked people, she didn't seem to trust anyone very much, was very independent, and didn't like to be petted or given a lot of physical attention.  As the weeks went by, however, Josie relaxed and her true personality began to shine through.  Today she has become a joy to be around.  She has learned to trust us, loves strangers as well, and will come and ask us for attention.  Unlike the first few weeks where all she did was pace, Josie now just wants to PLAY.  Josie finds joy in literally every aspect of her life.  Every day brings new adventures to experience, and she finds excitement in everything from car rides to chasing her ball.

An x-ray done over the summer showed a very bad hip joint, but, not surprisingly for Josie, she didn't show any signs of pain or discomfort from it.  The vet put her on an anti-inflammatory medicine and a supplement which has helped even more.  She runs, chases balls, and plays like she doesn't feel anything at all.  I only notice issues when we are at my parent's house where there are lots of steps and she gets noticeably tired from going up and down them so much.  She doesn't have any trouble getting up or down, but they do tire her out quickly.

While Josie's spirit is certainly that of a 2-3 year old dog, she has the bonuses of an older dog as well.  I call her the most content dog I have ever been around.  She is perfectly happy just to be near her people.  Whether it's inside, outside, or in the car, she's happy everywhere.  While she can be a little aloof and is not a dog that needs a lot of attention or affection, she always wants to be close by and will ask for affection when she needs it.  Josie wins the hearts of everyone she meets.  She is looking for a home with people who want to love her and who will appreciate the love that Josie will so freely give in return. See Josie's Webpage

 Mona Lisa Status - Adopted
 MonaLisaMeet Mona Lisa

With a smile that’s worth a million dollars, no other name would be suitable for this sweet girl, so she became Mona Lisa!  Mona is a classic black and tan girl that is about 6 years young.  She’s a petite girl and oh so cuddly.  Mona Lisa has a sad story like so many of the GSDs that come through our group.  She was adopted through the SPCA when she was just a small pup, but somewhere between then and now, things went south for her.  When we were notified about her, she was in rough shape to say the least.  She had both physical and emotional scars from years of mistreatment.  But those days are so far behind us now!  She has bounced back beautifully and is such a smiling happy girl now.  She has been treated for heartworms and finally is feeling healthy and happy and its hard to bring this happy girl down!
Mona is looking for a family who can ensure her that she will never be mistreated again.  Because her past has been rough, Its going to take a little time for her to warm up to and trust her new family.  She needs a family who believes in discipline, but in a gentle positive way.  She does not take well to negative corrections or a heavy hand.  Mona does well with kids and likes how their hands are at just that right height to give her pats, but they need to be gentle pats.  She’s quite squeezable like a stuffed animal, but isn’t that dog that likes big bear hugs!  A nice pat and a belly rub is the ticket though!  Speaking of belly rubs, did I mention that she LOVES snuggle time and belly rubs with her foster mom!?  That’s one of her fave things and is one of her requirements in her new home…snuggle time!
Mona is currently in foster care with several other dogs and cats.  She does fine with the other dogs and wouldn’t mind a doggy companion that isn’t going to push her around a lot.  She’s not much the bossy type, but when she’s had enough, she’s ready to chill and not be bothered. She’d also do fine as an only pet who can soak up all the attention herself.  She is crate trained and walks nicely on a leash.  She loves car rides and going places so she’s ready to see the world with you!

Mona is such a special girl that deserves the best this world has to offer.  She’s spent enough of her life being mistreated and she expects nothing but the best in her new home.  Once you win over her heart, she is sure to steal yours and be the best GSD buddy that she knows how to be.  She is truly a gem and you do not want to miss out on her!! Check out her webpage here.

BABE Status - Adopted!!

 BabeMeet Babe

......"They say we're young and we don't know, we won't find out until we grow,

Well I don't know if all that's true 'cause you got me, and baby I got you.......

Babe........I got you babe.......I got you babe......."

Are you all singing along with Sonny and Cher?

I am a mature female searching for my forever home. I had almost given up on humans when I met my foster mom. She brightened my day and has given me new hope for you humans. See my previous owners did not give me any love or affection - they just threw me out in the yard and did not interact with me. Sure they fed me and gave me water but that is as much attention as I received. I really love my foster mom and I like to be right by her side, she gives me tummy rubs and tells me how beautiful I am. I can't run and play like I once did - see I have this condition called Laryngeal Paralysis - that makes it hard for me to breathe when I get excited, if I exercise too much, or if I get hot.

As you might have guessed, her name is Babe :) And this is her story....

Babe is an 8 year old female that was an owner surrender. Babe has been an only dog for most of her life. She is crate and house trained. She has made the transition from being an outside dog to an inside dog very nicely.

Babe has been dog tested and she appears to be middle of the road in dominance. If she is placed with a submissive dog she will most likely take the alpha role. If she is placed with a dominant dog we think she will submit to a lower ranking. The dog she was tested with is very submissive and Babe just wagged her tail at her and tried to initiate play.

No cats. She corrects well when told no but her prey drive seems strong when she see a cat.

Babe is very gentle but very stand offish with people she doesn't know. We have been working on this and she is becoming interested in new people. A treat or two, some nice belly rubs and she is your friend in no time.

Babe is an awesome girl. She would easily be your lap dog, she loves attention is a velcro dog. She would do best with an owner that is home most of the time. After being neglected for most of her life she is so grateful for affection is wants to please. She is just an easy girl.

 Diva Status - Available

 DivaMeet Diva
This stunning black and cream girl is named Diva. It is a suiting name for such a pretty girl. Diva has the brightest, most intense eyes I have seen. Diva is 7 years old, but you would never know it. She has plenty of energy, a gorgeous coat, and prettier teeth than dogs half her age. She has a wonderful playful attitude, and is very much a velcro dog. Diva wants nothing more than to be near her people. Diva loves people, and approaches with a smile and a wag. She is generous with her kisses, and loves belly rubs. She gives the paw often, sometimes with a great deal of enthusiasm!! She will follow you around everywhere. If you are watching tv or reading a book, Diva is perfectly happy to just curl up somewhere nearby. Diva likes to play fetch with tennis balls and fuzzy toys. She will bring them back about half the time. She looks and acts like a puppy when she pounces on them. Diva is very smart, and is quite food motivated. We h ave been working on some training, such as how to properly walk on a leash, and she is doing quite well. Diva is a unique and exquisite girl, and is so deserving of a family of her own to love and cherish her. In return, you will have a companion that is totally devoted to you.

Diva is housebroken, crate trained, and in perfect health. However, the one little quirk with Diva is that she needs to be an only pet. She has considerable prey drive, so no kitty cats for Diva. She is also dog reactive, and although we are working on that, and have made great progress, I don't think it would be suitable to put her in a household with other dogs. Diva is not very demanding either. A bit of love, a yard to play in with her family, and a sense of security and she is a happy girl. One of her favorite treats is a kong with some peanut butter in it...she loves peanut butter. If you think Diva might be the one for you, I'm sure she would be thrilled to meet you!
