Since the inception of the pandemic and the ongoing challenges we all face, GSRA has worked hard to design a safe process which enables us to continue to help shepherds in need. We have refined our screening process, transitioning to virtual home visits and developed safe meet and greet guidelines. These things are a stopgap measure until we can return to our normal procedures. As an all-volunteer organization we are also constrained by the existing work and family commitments of our dedicated volunteers.
Due to all these factors, the time requirement for our adoption process has increased and, like the country, we are not running at 100%.
As social restrictions have begun to ease, we have also faced a large influx of new adoption applications, far more than we can service with existing dogs and resources.
GSRA has always been about quality over quantity and we are committed to giving our adoptive families and our wonderful dogs the very best chance for success and happiness. Therefore, we have made the decision to temporarily limit the submission of new adoption applications to one week per month.
This will allow us time to control our intake of new dogs, fully learn their personalities and help them decompress and learn with our wonderful fosters, and then work with our approved families to make matches.
Please do continue to follow us on social media to learn about the new dogs coming into the rescue and the lucky dogs who have found their forever homes. The week following our adoption events each month, has been designated as the open week for new applications. Any application currently submitted will be worked on, but processing time may be longer.
Thank you for your interest in our rescue!
