~1 year old.  Good with dogs and older considerate children.  Not good with cats.  Must have fenced yard.

GSRA adopts to residents of VA, NC, and SC only

Hello there!!!  My name is Dutch and I'm going to spend the next few paragraphs telling you how incredibly awesome I am!  So buckle up, it's going to be lots of fun!!
I am an approximately 1 year old Australian Shepherd / German Shepherd mix and am stunningly beautiful, obviously.  I am on the smaller side, only 50 lbs and no plans on getting bigger, but let me tell you, I can pack a whole lot of awesome into this smaller wrapper!  I have a pretty intense prey drive, so might not be best for a home with cats, and a fenced yard is a must!  I will keep your yard critter free, that's for sure! And due to my young age and hyper nature, older considerate children would be best, although I haven't been around too many children.
I am for the most part good with dogs, but I have not been getting along with my Sister as of late which is why I found myself back with GSRA.  She's like a super old grumpy girl, like 3 years old or something ancient like that, and apparently she cannot deal with my awesomeness.  What can I tell you, I love to play play play!  I love to run, and chase, and jump, and dig, and chew, and have as much fun as possible!  So I might be better in a home that has a companion that has the same energy as me.  I could be an only dog, but my Foster Mom recommends continued exposure to other dogs, because I do love to play around.
I am super smart, like Mensa smart!  Which my Foster Mom says leads me to get into things I shouldn't, so that means I need to be crated if the humans leave for extended periods of time.  Apparently I can get quite creative in how I choose to occupy my time while I'm bored.  Not sure what the issue is, I think they're just jealous!
According to some, I can get a little over excited and barky when I see other people and dogs, and as my Foster Mom puts it I "act a fool!" but give me a min and I'm on the floor asking for belly rubs and giving kisses!  I'm still trying to figure out why no one reacts like that when they first see me.  Very strange.  Any who, my Foster Mom has me signed up for some additional training meant for super smart amazing awesome pups like me, so I am expecting to be even more awesome once this class is done!  If that is even possible!  But if you continue to take me to parks and expose me to other dogs and humans, I will only get better.
My Foster Mom has taught me this great activity called "Nosework" and apparently I'm the best to ever partake!  No matter where she hides them, no matter how clever my Foster Mom thinks she is, I will always find it!  It's pretty cool and I really enjoy it!  And then after 15 min of doing that, I'm super tired!   My Foster Mom always says "A tired dog, is a good dog', whatever that means.  I like sniffing around!
So if you are looking for a beautiful loving smart amazing energetic funny creative fabulous crazy girl to fill your life with love and laughter, then I'm the girl for you!!

FROM FOSTER MOM:
Dutch is a very smart funny bundle of energy that knows how to capture your heart. She caught mine but she never fully captured the heart of her 'Foster Sister'. It was more a clashing of the personalities than an issue with females in general. Dutch loves to learn and play and has the potential of growing into an amazing adult with continued training and consistency. I wish that home was with me, but she needs a home where her silly side can be celebrated and not suppressed.
