ROCKY ~ 2 years old. Good with dogs and older/considerate kids. Cats TBD.

GSRA adopts to residents of VA, NC, and SC only.

Rocky is a 2yo male GSD who is a medium energy guy. He loves being with his people, enjoys a leash walk and then will happily hang out taking a nap or playing with his toys. He will, at times, have a conversation with the neighbor dogs but only when they talk to him first. He’s house trained, crate trained and for the most part a quiet guy. He is currently living with a high energy female GSD and a senior male dachshund, he gets along with both fine. He can be a mouthy player but settles down when he’s told he’s being too rough. He completely ignores the dachshund, he would not do well with a yappy small dog that gets in his face.

Rocky can now comfortably walk past barking dogs, people, bikes, cars, noisy school buses with no reaction, he’s an excellent leash walker who doesn’t pull and adjusts his speed to the walking pace of the human with him and generally walks right by your side.

He does still take time to warm up to new humans and will need a family that is patient and will give him that time to come to them as he gets the courage to do so. He will need a family experienced with the breed. He can be an only dog or with older non playing dogs. He can also be with a higher energy confident large female dog. He is still uncomfortable with large male dogs who try to initiate play, even if they are openly submissive – so no male dogs, at least for now.

Rocky is such a great dog who had a rough start in life but every day he embraces new experiences and is so close to being a perfect dog. All he needs is a family of his own to take him to the finish line!!
