Kaiser is a large, friendly, happy clown. He loves to play ball, go for walks, lay in the sun and bark at wildlife. Kaiser is a purebred German Shepherd that was raised with an elderly English Lab. He still has some of the body language he learned from my old lab. My vet agreed when I described him as a lab personality in a German Shepherd coat.

Kaiser has had surgery on both front elbows and, due to this, is not cut out to be a runner's partner. He walks with me 5 miles at a time, but long runs could damage his joints. He's fast and strong and unless you knew he'd had surgery you'd never guess. I've kept him on joint supplements and try to keep his weight down but he has no other complications or care needed. He's UTD on immunizations and has been neutered. He loves going to the vet. Or anywhere. Rides in the car like a champ. He likes to play rough and uses his big body to rub your knees or legs. He doesn't jump. Due to his legs as a puppy he never learned to jump up into the back of my truck and requires assistance. Sometimes I think he just likes to be picked up. He fancies himself a lap dog.

Kaiser currently lives outdoors and due to very small children (another on the way) I am unable to give him the attention he needs. He's always had another dog with him for company and I have no idea how he'd do as the only dog. He's never met a cat. He's taken to barking and I can tell he's bored and unhappy.

It breaks my heart to even consider rehoming him as he's the best dog I've ever owned, but realistically, it will be about a year or two before I can really do him justice. It's not fair to him. I'm hoping there's a family or someone who's looking for a best friend and companion. He's crate trained, walks beautifully on a leash, been socialized and I think he's a winner. He does have a very dominant personality so if you have a General at home and not a soldier he'd probably not be a good fit for your household.
