We adopted Xena from the county animal shelter 5 months ago. She is truly a great dog, loves belly rubs and playing fetch and kissing anyone who'll allow it. She walks calmly on a leash (as long as no other dogs are nearby, see below) and is loyal and loving.
Unfortunately, she's shown some resource guarding issues with super young children (ages 1 - 3 years), especially boys. Although we've been working on this with a trainer, we feel it's an unsafe situation for the young children in our house as well as for Xena and would like to find another home for her. She has been fine with our older nieces and nephews who are 8, 9, and 12, so we think she would be totally fine in a house with kids in high school or older. Or, of course, a house with no children. She also does not like other dogs. We've been working with a trainer on this issue for several months and she has shown a lot of progress, but it would be best if whoever adopts her form us has the time, money, motivation, and patience to continue training her. She is spayed, housebroken, has a microchip, and is up-to-date on vaccinations, heartworm, and flea meds. Please let us know if you would like more information on her.
