My name is Goose, and I am happy to meet you! In fact, I am happy to meet almost everyone – people, kids, cats, and even other dogs my own size. And, while I like to take walks, play, and have fun, I am also content to relax at home with you. Or better yet, we can go on a car ride together. I love car rides!

I am between 3 and 4 years old, weigh approximately 60 pounds, and have a medium energy level. Even though I am a good-natured guy, I’ve had some unhappy experiences with small dogs who were not leashed and who attacked me. When we see small dogs now, my foster mom and I cross the street to avoid them, because they make me nervous. They just aren’t my cup of tea, if you know what I mean. I am comfortable with medium and large dogs, with proper introductions, particularly females and other dogs who are easy going and good natured, like me. At doggy daycare, I love to run and play chase with other dogs my size or even larger.

Growing up, I received training and was a very good student. I know a lot of commands, like “place,” “wait,” and “sit.” I am eager to please and quick to learn new things. I've lived with older cats and I like them! I am both curious and respectful. I want to get to know them with some sniffing, and I understand that a quick nose bop from a cat friend means “cool it.”  Younger, high energy cats that might run around or rough house will probably make me too excited, so let’s not go there.

My foster mom says I am the most loving, gentle, and sweet boy. Actually, the other day I heard her say, “Goose is just a joy to be around!” I will be at my best in a fairly quiet home with kids over 12 years old. My guardian(s) should be experienced with German Shepherds, enthusiastic about providing me with structure and training, and enjoy taking me places (in the car!!).  I need a fenced-in yard so I can run and play each day. I would do well with a medium-to-large playful dog sibling but not someone who would be overly bossy or dominant. I cannot be adopted into a home with small dogs, young cats, or children under the age of 12.

I am neutered, up to date on vaccines, on heartworm preventative, and crate and obedience trained. If you have any questions about me, you can contact Donna J at BMSR1313@gmail.com or please fill out an online application https://form.jotform.com/83115668015152.  Our adoption area is NC and SC.
