Hello world! My name is Mocha, and I am a very sweet girl searching for my forever family. As you can see from the pictures, I am not a full-blooded German Shepherd. In fact, I may be a shepherd mix, or I may not have any shepherd in me at all. It doesn’t really matter; I was fortunate enough to end up in the rescue when I found myself incarcerated at a local rural shelter with very few options. I was very scared and shut down and would not even stand up. My luck changed when someone from the rescue decided that I needed to get out of there so that I would least have a chance.

I am a young girl, probably between one year and one and a half years old. I am on the smaller side, and weigh about 45 pounds. I have a very unique coloring. I have a dark coat on top with a lot of brindle markings on my legs and face. My foster mom says I’m very unique, and my coloring reminds her of a cup of mocha coffee. Also due to all the different colors in my coat, it’s very difficult to get a really good picture of me. I am very pretty in person

It took me a couple of weeks to decompress and to start learning to be a dog. Initially I was scared of everything, my foster mom, the other dogs, the leash, etc. However, I put on my big girl paws and suddenly the whole world seemed a bit better. I am a very happy girl now and I prance around with a constant tail wag. I adore my foster siblings, and love nothing better than to play with them in the yard. I’m pretty receptive to correction from the other dogs. When I get really excited I start running and then I start leaping/bouncing. My foster mom says I must have a little bit of kangaroo in my DNA

I do pretty well of the house although I am a bit of a kleptomaniac. I do like to take my foster mom shoes and prance around with them. I still have a little bit of puppy in me, so I need to be crated when I’m not supervised as I have a bit of curiosity. I have been spotted taking things off counters, and I have been busted chewing on a towel!

I am a really fun girl who is looking for a home with a fenced yard and another medium to large dog to play with me and teach me the ropes. I have made great progress so far considering how terrified I was originally. I need a family that will continue to help me gain confidence and become an even better dog. I am food motivated and very structured oriented so I should be pretty easy to do some training with. I promise to give you years of love and happiness in return. Come and meet me soon!
