Meet Ramsey, a 3 1/2 year German Shepherd. A big, sweet, lovable boy. He enjoys being with his foster parents and getting lots of love and affection. He is one of the most affectionate and loving shepherds we have come across. An ideal day for Ramsey is a walk with his human pack and then coming home and cuddling up to watch TV. Ramsey enjoys playing with his big female foster sister in the back yard and then hanging out. He also loves going on long walks and greeting other doggies but he would really like to chase the deer he sees, so a secure leash and further leash training will be important! And he does have a prey drive so no small dogs or cats.
Ramsey likes other dogs and is calm around them. He can be around other male dogs, he was recently neutered, but we will not place him in a home with another male dog. Ramsey would also do well as an only dog because he does crave lots of love and affection. He will bond quickly with his new family.
Ramsey has learned basic obedience and loves to work for praise and treats. He will roll over for belly rubs and enjoys sitting on his bed with his bone while his foster parents are watching TV. Given the chance he will crawl in your lap (he has no idea he is not a small lap dog) and try to get on the couch or bed with you. Because he is in training we are not allowing that behavior. He is learning how to settle in a home environment and will need to be on leash in the house to get him to relax and settle. Once settled he is cuddly and calm. Ramsey is a very happy, gentle and sweet loving boy. He is even gentle when taking treats!
Ramsey will needs an experienced handler that knows the breed, A SECURE FENCED IN YARD and a home that will continue his training and socialization.
We will not place him in a home with children less than 16 years old because of his size and energy level.
