GSRA 2021 Reunion Update
Our annual reunion picnic is rapidly approaching, and we wanted to update you on current plans. Like so many events over the past year and a half, our picnic must adapt to reflect the current public health situation. We WILL be having a picnic at the beautiful, spacious facility of Montague’s Lake. But, the format will be different than in previous years.
First, let’s cover what WON’T be happening: we will not have our usual dog games and other activities. We will not have food trucks come in, as we can’t guarantee a large enough crowd to make it worth their while. Instead, we encourage everyone to bring their own picnic, as well as chairs and/or blankets to set up on the spacious grounds. A limited number of benches and picnic tables will be available near the pavilion, but this is the perfect year to make full use of the wide-open space this wonderful venue has to offer. We hope many attendees will do this.
We will also be shifting the time from our usual 12–4 to 11–2. The first hour (11–12) will also be promoted as a Meet and Greet event for our adoptable dogs, but the rest of the time is purely for socializing. Now we’ve covered what WON’T be happening, and what will be DIFFERENT, but what will be the SAME?
What will be the same is that Montegue’s Lake on October 10th will be the place to be to get your fill of black and tan (and yes, some white!) sheppie love, and fur, and FUN! We will also have GSRA merchandise available, including a new supply of GSRA car magnets!! So please join us if you feel comfortable doing so.
A note about the event mask policy: Masks covering the nose and mouth will be required under and around the pavilion—and note that the restrooms are located in the pavilion. Masks will be optional on the rest of the grounds. Our overall goal is that everyone who chooses to attend will feel safe and comfortable. Please be sensitive that people outside your family group may be following a different masking/social distancing policy than you are. YES, we want people to come together and socialize, but please give everyone the space they need to do that in a way that makes them comfortable.
Sunday October 10th, 2021 11:00 AM until 02:00 PM
To paraphrase this year’s reunion T-shirt, “We will be SO happy to see you again!!”
