Teal
I rescued Teal from Humane Society just a few short hours before a tornado struck the shelter. I was lucky enough to have him for 1 yr and 12 days, but sadly his journey has come to an end. He is sadly missed by all. You see, Teal was so mellow and loving he was an amazing puppy. He was only 20 months old when he passed on. But I couldn't stand to see him suffer. He was hit by a car and ended up with 2 broken front legs. It broke my heart and left a gaping hole. It has only been 2 days since Teal has passed, but I wake up every morning and think about him and go to bed every night thinking about him. I love you and miss you dearly, my baby boy. I will cherish each moment we had together and look at your paw print often. I miss the little noises you used to make when you sleep, the way you would cuddle with me, whether on the couch or in my bed. I love you...

Teddy
We said goodbye to Teddy. We are thankful for the years we had with him....he was so chip, protective, and he gave the best hugs. He is and will be deeply missed. Class of 2010.

Tessa
My Tessa would have been 12 years old in May. "My sweet baby" passed suddenly 1/31/12 of a heart attack within seconds. She was not ill and had no suffering and I thank God for that, though it has left me lost without my girl, especially since there was no warning. She was such a calm and sweet child like no other I have met before. She is loved by my entire family, immediate and extended. She made an impression everywhere she went and people could not resist the urge to meet her. She loved going for walks and rides her whole life, especially when she got older and we bought a vehicle special for her to get in easier...she knew that was her car. More recently, she loved to socialize with everyone in Petsmart. She loved visits to grandma and greatgrandma's house. She has been with me since she was just weeks old when she was able to leave her birth mother and come to live with her adoptive mama. Tessa was there for me i n good and bad times, and made my life brighter. She was my pet soulmate and I am thankful that her spirit is in a good place and know that we will be taking walks again together one day. Tessa, your mama and daddy and family misses you so much. We love you sweet girl.

Thunder
I'm writing just to let you know that in 2007 I fostered an older dog through your organization, Thunder, who was given up by his owners at the age of 7 years old. I ended up keeping him because he was such a great dog, and got along beautifully with my other senior male GSD. Sadly, Thunder had some hip problems, and also later some front-end elbow problems, and the poor guy had such difficulty walking that I couldn't let him suffer any longer. I had him euthanized two weeks ago at my vet, he was 12 years old, and still a wonderful dog to the end. He had five years with me, and only 2 years with his "brother" Tucker, but those years hopefully were the best ones of his life. I called him Thunder Jones, or sometimes Mr. Jones, and he would wag his tail so happily whenever I talked to him. He never got the hang of playing with a ball, he could never catch it or figure out how it bounced, but he loved a big old stuffed piggy toy he had and would sleep with it almost every night. He loved to take a long walk and see what was around the neighborhood, but these walks got shorter and shorter until he could barely walk out to the road to the mailbox and back without limping so badly that I knew he must be in agony, even with the various medications he was taking for pain. Anyway, this is making me cry and I'm still at work so I have to end this now, just wanted to say thank you for such an awesome dog. Laura M

Tori
My beautiful GSD mix pup was my college graduation gift to myself on May 9, 1992. I literally left Carter-Finley Stadium at NCSU and went straight to the Orange Co. Animal Shelter with my dad to pick her up. She was just 11 weeks old. My wife and I were married later that summer. Tori was an incredibly intelligent, sweet, and loyal girl. While initially she was our "child", it was she who later become more of a friend and mother / caretaker to us as she aged. She welcomed our daughter as "her own" in 1998 and our little lab / pointer "flea market rescue girl" in late 1997. She loved her family. During our years of graduate school she was our source of emotional stability, somehow encouraging us and providing us great joy as we toiled with little. As all good dogs are, she was our true friend, confidant, and protector. Four years after her passing she is most sorely missed. We still love you Tori!
