~10 months old. Good with kids and cats. Not good with dogs. Date Posted: 1/9/2014 We took in Vega about a month ago from a situation where she was going to end up at the pound because her owner could not care for her anymore. We have slowly introduced her to our dogs and our home, and she has made a lot of progress from being scared and hiding under the table, to laying on the couch with us and wanting us to pet her. She is house trained, and in the time we have had her, she has not had any accidents in our home. We have been slowly crate training her, and she got in her crate for the first time on her own last night to lie down and chew her toy. Vega has had a hard life in her short 10 months. She was the victim of neglect and abuse during a divorce, and was subject to daily attacks by a pit bull that was owned by one of the divorcing parties. She has a slight limp on her back and front left leg that the vet think may be permanent from one of the attacks, but it does not affect her daily life. Aside from her fear of other dogs, you would not know she had any problems. She is smart, loving, and a beautiful girl. She gets fearful of our two dogs, and we feel that she would be best suited in a home where she was the only dog. She is good with children after she realizes they won't hurt her, and she is friendly with our cat. Vega is spayed, microchipped, and up-to-date on all of her shots through June of this year. I was able to obtain her vet records from the previous owner's vet. She is current on heartworm preventative and flea/tick control. She has no major health issues that we are aware of, other than her slight limp. She loves play fetch, so a home with a fenced yard is a must for her.
