~9 years old.  Good with kids, dogs and cats. Good for Seniors/Elderly.  Apartment appropriate.

Hi! My name is Gabby. I am nine years old but you would never know it. I run, jump, and play like a champ and I am very swift on my feet. I can’t get enough of people petting me, and I'll sit still next to you all day long if you give me some head pats. Since coming to stay with my foster mom and dad a month ago I've done what they call "coming out of my shell".  I think that means that while I was shy and a bit skittish when first getting out of that nasty shelter, I've since begun showing my true confident playful side. I even act - dare I say it - a bit goofy at times, like when I lay on my back and kick my paws in the air when I'm really relaxed. Or when I couldn't get quite enough love from my foster mom and just jumped right up on top of her on the couch to take matters into my own hands. Or like how I prefer to eat my food off the floor and will move it from the bowl to the floor with my paw before beginning to eat. Dog toys don’t seem to interest me, but I’m realizing there are some cool things I wasn't familiar with before like dog treats and dog bones. Hardwood floors, though, tend to make me slip because I think I’m not used to them.

Now I have to be honest and tell you that my heartworm test while I was in the shelter did turn up very slightly positive. But the rescue folks can take care of that, and these days it's really not that big of a deal. Now to counteract that with something really great: I don't really shed like my black and tan brothers and sisters! For all you great people who have shared a house with one of us GSDs before, that should be a welcome surprise!  I haven’t been around any cats, but I like people of all shapes and sizes.  I am very gentle with the two year old who lives down the street from my foster parents even when he screams in my face and runs around. I have a very calm nature and my foster dad says I’m the best dog on a leash he has ever seen! I would love to be your partner in crime or part of your family if you'll give me the chance. I have so much love to give!!
