Special Needs: She has hip issues which require a little bit more attention and would need to be worked with to exercise her. She also has some vision problems from a condition called Pannus. She receives medicine for both conditions. She would need to be in an environment where she could get the proper attention and care that she needs. .

Hi my name is Katy...I was found by an animal control officer while I was wandering on the side of a busy highway in the mountains of Henderson County. I was taken to the county shelter where the folks at the shelter really fell in love with me. They all came out to see me and say "hi" when my foster mommy came in to look at me for the first time. Each person came in to talk to my mommy and told her all kinds of nice things about me. I even had quite the following on Facebook. People donated money to help me get medicine and medical treatment. They liked me so much that they kept me around longer than I was supposed to be there. Luck was on my side when a good samaritan saw that I was in the shelter and they contacted my foster mommy to help me. That's when GSRA stepped in and brought me into the rescue. Now I am currently living with my foster mommy and daddy and two other GSD's and two kitties. I feel like I am living the high life now as my mommy and daddy spoil me with lots of attention and affection and even though I have special needs, they still love me. I know that they will help me heal not only physically but mentally from the tough journey I have had to make. Now my future looks promising.

Katy is a very sweet dog who's been through a lot in her life. She has some hip issues but remains very active and playful. She doesn't let anything get in her way and by looking at her you would never know that she had any physical problems. She's a very happy, strong, special dog who just wants to be loved and wants to please. She loves interaction with people and other dogs and needs to be in an environment filled with love and would probably be best in an environment without small kids and loud noises. She's a very happy dog that has a big heart and with the proper attention can live a great life.
