Meet Jack!! An 8 month old ball of fun! He's an all around great boy and we just love him!  Great with other dogs, good with cats, and very polite with kids (over 8 yrs).  Jack is 100%  housetrained and loves his crate.  We don't think Jack will get too much bigger so he will probably top out at around 60lbs or so. Little package, but loads of fun!

Even though Jack is a pup and has lots of puppy energy, he's got great manners with people.  He gets excited but knows how to keep his paws on the floor.  No worries about puppy teeth either because he keeps those to himself and his toys! We are working with him on basic obedience and he's learned very quickly to sit/lay politely until he's released for his meals.  Jack is great on leash once he gets his initial excitement out and will happily march right beside you.  Jack is just a fun, fun boy.  He loves playing with soft squeaky toys and even does a decent job of not shredding them to bits.  He also likes kongs to chase after and is also happy to occupy himself by grabbing a bone.  He does a good job of distinguishing appropriate doggy toys from household items, but a flip flop is always fair game, so make sure you puppy proof!

Jack likes toys and all, but his most favorite thing in the world is his canine sister. They play and play and play some more until both of them are about to hit the floor with exhaustion.  They chase each other and wrestle and play tug with toys. They absolutely love to play and it is oh so fun to watch them!  A canine sibling is a must in his forever home...and they better enjoy playing!!

Jack hasn't always been a goofy playful boy though.  When he first came into rescue a couple months ago, he was a very scared pup. He had been with his litter mate for the first 6 months of his life and did not have much socialization with people.  Because of this Jack was scared to pieces of loud noises, sudden movements and people in general.  He's come a LONG way and now that he's settled in his foster home you'd never know that he wasn't a normal pup.  However, when faced with new experiences and new people, Jack is always a little hesitant, but with some reassurance from his canine buddies, he is more than willing to try new things and make new human friends.  He tells his canine sis "I'll check it out, if you do". Because of this, Jack will absolutely need a confident, playful canine buddy in his new forever home.  This will ensure that he continues to try new things and grow as a confident canine.  He'll probably always have that little jumpy reaction when a new noise spooks him, but after seeing how far he's come in just a few weeks, we're SURE that he will continue to come along and grow into that German Shepherd personality that we know he has!  A family that has had experience with undersocialized or timid dogs would be a plus, but is not required.  As long as his new family is willing to listen to the advice given by his foster home and put the time in, he will do great with anyone (with canine buddies of course).

We are having a blast watching Jack grow and enjoy all the good things in life, but we know that his perfect family is out there somewhere. We can't wait to see Jack's happy ending...could it be with you??  Put your application in now for this fun guy.  He's sure to keep you laughing and on your toes for years to come!
