(10 months) Hey, meet Dodger, formerly known as Diogi, and brother of Diego (now Gus) & Lucy (now Ruby). Dodger is now about 7 months old, neutered and weighs 60 pounds. Diego went to his new permanent home 2 weeks ago. We were concerned about how Dodger would react to not having his brother constantly nearby for the first time in his life. Dodger has responded very well. He has a new nickname: Mr. Happy Go Lucky. When I look at him or say his name, the tail starts a’wagging. If I sit on the couch, he jumps up and lays next to me. If I rub him, he rolls over to get a belly rub. He’s been at my house now a month. He likes being outside with my 3 big female GSDs. They’re teaching him appropriate puppy behavior; he caught on quickly that it’s not OK to try to take toys away from them. He likes to run around and find toys to chew on. During the day, Dodger stays in the kennel outside with 2 of my girls. At night he has run of the house , but usually sleeps either on the floor next to my bed or on the bed. Dodger especially likes the bones filled with peanut butter that he gets every night. We’re working on his leash-walking; originally he hated the leash, but he is now responding well. Dodger’s mom is a purebred GSD; not so sure about Dad, maybe a hound. Dodger has a wonderful disposition; some family is going to be very fortunate to adopt this pup. We recommend that Dodger go to a family with another dog.
But no children under the age of 8. And we recommend that Dodger and his new owners attend Obedience class. He does know sit, but that’s about it.
