Meet Maddie, a 16 month old female German shepherd. She’s a very happy and sweet girl.  She loves cuddling and affection.  Given the chance she will crawl into your lap and give little nibble kisses.  She’s a petite girl and will probably be about 60 lbs. when she matures.

Maddie has come a long way from the shy, scared little girl of a few months ago.  She loves riding in the car and taking walks.  She is obedience trained and walks well on leash.  She can get a bit excited when seeing other dogs on leash, but a quick correction to refocus usually does the trick.  Maddie has decided that she likes Linus the cat and they are becoming friends.  Maddie would do well with older, calm cats that are not very active.

Maddie would probably do best as an only dog.    But, she does love my young male gsd who is easy going and playful.  It has taken time to get them used to each other but now they do great with each other.  She can be out with her foster pack and Linus the cat without issues, but they are supervised.  Maddie would not do well with a dominant dog and prefers male dogs NOT female dogs. She is extremely accommodating and loving.

A fenced yard will be required for any prospective adopters.   When she sees deer and squirrels she is quick to alert and will chase if given the chance.     Maddie is a pretty calm and relaxed girl, but needs her daily walks and exercise.  She is super fast and loves to race around the yard a few times to get some excess energy out.  She knows how to play ball but is not ball crazy.   When inside the house, Maddie will relax and play with her toys and will follow you around the house.  Although she is very sweet, we can see some of the typical GSD traits surfacing as she matures and becomes more confident.    Maddie will require an experienced GSD owner to continue her socialization and training and to help channel her newfound confidence.

Maddie is spayed, up to date on shots, on heart worm preventative and crate trained.

If you are interested in this beautiful, sweet girl, please contact Donna J. at Shepherds Hope Rescue at Bluemoonblue13@gmail.com.

PLEASE NOTE: Maddie is being fostered by our friends at Shepherds Hope Rescue please click to apply for Maddie.
