Foster Diary:
[UPDATE] Romeo is officially healthy now! NO more heartworms and the bullet has been removed. Whoever, gets this lucky fella will also get the prize bullet to showcase as well. He is such a sweetheart and is now learning what its like to be a dog! He will come when called. He will sit and shake and NOW he likes TOYS! My happiest moment was when he first picked up my daughters shoe, I loved it, my husband thought I was nuts considering they were brand new Nikes but I was just so excited that he wanted to play with them. I have been waiting for that moment.    continue He loves playing tug of war too. His personality is shining beautifully. He is a joy to have beside your bed at night. He has a big strong protective bark. He is not harmful at all but will let you know if someone is in my driveway. I would really like to see him have a buddy canine as well. He loves to play with another dog. He is just a real charmer.
[ORIGINAL] O Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou Romeo??? Well, hey Folks....He is RIGHT HERE! Meet Romeo, the sweetest dog you could ever have for your family! He has a rough story but I will tell you the good news first. He is a geniune sweetheart. Loves to be loved, gives you kisses, and buries his head in your lap. He will even crawl to you to be closer which is very cute to see, just so he can snuggle with you! He just wants to be right beside you cuddling at all times! He wants to sit on the couch with you, he wants to sleep in the bed with you. Romeo is a cuddle bug at heart. Amazingly, still wanting to give his unconditional love even after what has happened to him. He walks great on a leash. He will even let you know when he needs to go outside by whining to get your attention and sits by the door. He will talk to you if you get him going. He grunts like an old man always wagging his tail. Romeo is very laid back. He does wonderful in the house. He is not destructive at all. He likes his bones. He does not need a crate and does not like one. Sleeps in his bed or tries to make my bed his. He will lay by the door looking out if we are not home. I think he just wants to make sure we are coming back. He gets so excited to see us when we come walking up on the porch. Where I go, he follows. Except in my kitchen, he even knows his manners folks! He will just peep in to see us. He is great with my kids and my dogs. He is just no trouble whatsoever! Sweet Sweet Sweet! Now, the bad news...Romeo was badly abused. He was someone's pet but somewhere down the road, he was abused. When he came to me, just to reach out and pet him, he will crouch down in a fetal position. This is very heartbreaking to see as you can see fear in his eyes but yet still saying to you, please just pet me. Once Romeo realizes you are wanting to love on him, he relaxes. I do think with time, he will realize that we are not going to hurt him. Everyday, he is more comfortable with us. He has been shot as well. When rubbing him, you can feel the bullet in his muscle. Just very sad to feel that bullet in his body. It will be removed once he is neutered. He has to be treated for heartworms as well. So, right now, he is under the weather. One thing I have noticed about Romeo though, he will warm up quick and that states he will bounce back quick too! He is an amazing dog that still wants to love unconditionally regardless of how he feels and what he has been though. As human beings, we let him down. Romeo needs a good family who can give him time that he lost and love that he did not recieve. He could really use a family. I would love to see him with a boy that he and this young boy (or girl) could grow up together and be best friends. Romeo is the epitomy of "Man's best friend".
