Foster Diary:
Meet Maxy….again…. Maxy was adopted out through our rescue in 2004 and has lived happily since, until her Dad recently died. So, poor Maxy is looking for a new family to fill the hole that has been left in her heart. Maxy is a beautiful black and red sable GSD, about 6 ˝ years old and weighs in at close to 100lbs! Her Daddy may have loved her just a bit too much when it came to the food!! She could stand to lose 10-15 lbs, but we are working on that! Her back end is a bit weak right now due to the excess weight and lack of exercise, but hip displaysia is not suspected to be a factor. She just needs to be exercised to build strength and to get that weight off….she'll be acting like a spring chicken once we've worked our magic with her! Maxy is an extremely affectionate GSD and loves to be pampered and loved on. She will bond super quick with her new family…no doubt! She's your typical GSD, so no cats for her! She seems to do fine with other dogs, but can be a bit possessive of her space sometimes and has exhibited some guarding tendencies. But, she plays well with her foster siblings so I don't see any problems with other dogs as long as her owner keeps her in check! Maxy hasn't been around younger children much, but does fine with older children. The only drawback to younger children would maybe be her size, but I think she would be just fine with the little ones. Maxy needs some leash work and boy is she a strong girl! She can really throw her weight around so be ready to do some leash training! Maxy is a quintessential example of the wonderful GSD breed. Can you give Maxy the home that she is so longing for?
