Foster Diary:
Meet Luna, another recent addition to GSRA. Luna is a beautiful 4 year old female turned into the shelter by her owner because she killed two of her cats. Needless to say this girl absolutely cannot go to a home with cats. Luna is adorable and sweet, she is being fostered with 4-5 other canine siblings and is doing ok but she would very much prefer to be an only dog. She would do well with one sibling assuming they got along with each other. She gets along fine but doesn’t like other dogs in her face and will growl which is sometimes misinterpreted by other dogs and may result in a scuffle.

She isn’t mean at all, just sort of a grump with other dogs. She’s great with people though she loves her attention and likes to be your shadow.
Luna’s only real issue is that she has mild separation anxiety, she will do her best to chew her way out of a crate so crating this girl is not recommended unless absolutely necessary. It upsets her to the point that she may destroy what she can get a hold of while in a crate including things like carpets and curtains. I’ve been fostering her for about 3 weeks or so now and she is completely trusted in the house while I’m gone, she does not chew or destroy anything at all, she’s just an all around good girl. I’ve also noticed this week that she likes to run up and down the fence chasing and barking at the neighbors’ dog so this is a behavior that you will need to be prepared to correct through training. Fence aggression is something that can escalate if not addressed and cause concern for neighbors not familiar with the breed.
Luna is spayed, up to date on vaccines and heartworm preventative, she seems to be very healthy, loves to run and play but doesn’t like to be outside too much unless you are with her so please be prepared to have a girl that will scratch like crazy at the door to come inside after a bathroom break if you aren’t quick enough. Luna loves attention and also loves to lounge on the loveseat or couch, a bad habit to some I know but if you meet her you’ll understand why I allow her that comfortable resting spot. She is a super sweet dog just very people oriented. She rides well and walks on a leash ok, whoever adopts her will need to realize that a basic obedience class would be recommended, not just for Luna but any of our dogs. This helps create the bond between you and her as well as teach basic manners. So, what do you think, is there room in your life and heart for this beautiful sweet girl?
