How To Keep Your Adoptee Safe
- Provide Identification. Tag, microchip or tatoo your pet. Collar tags should provide your name, address and telephone number.
- Be Prepared! Keep a clear, closeup color photo of your pet. Write down pertinent information about your pet including weight, markings, scars, and health conditions.
- Make sure you have a securely fenced yard.
- Don't leave your pet outside unattended for long periods of time.
- Have your pet spayed or neutered to reduce the urge to roam.
- NEVER travel with your dog loose in an open truck
- Keep your pets inside during thunderstorms, fireworks displays, etc. These things frighten pets and they will run and hide from them.
- Keep a current list of people who can help if your pet is lost or stolen.
- If your pet is missing begin a search immediately. Keep looking! Don't give up!
