Fostering

Fostering is the very foundation of our organization. Without the generous foster families who open their homes to a GSD in need, we would not be successful at saving so many GSDs

We take into acccount your home environment and schedule when matching you with a foster dog. The rescue provides all the supplies and services required to care for your new temporary family member.

If you live near one of our Raleigh, Fayetteville or Greensboro bases please consider fostering, these dogs are on very tight deadlines - so we need to move quickly. If interested please contact us. We also ask that you please take a moment and fill out our Volunteer Application.

Adrienne, Sydney & Deacon

German Shepherds have been a part of my life since I was 5 years old and because they have always given so much to me in the way of love, loyalty, and companionship it was a natural step for me to want to volunteer in GSRA. I decided to foster because that would make the biggest initial impact in saving the life of a GSD and because GSRA is always in great need of foster homes. Initially I felt that I would not be a good foster because I have a full time job and live in a townhome but GSRA worked with me to find the best fit for my home, foster experience and work schedule. Needless to say Deacon has been a wonderful addition to the ‘pack’ and is quite content playing with his new GSD sister, snuggling in bed and playing with his Frisbee. He has already gained weight, learned basic manners, socializes well and is very handsome after bath time- quite a difference from his life as a stray roaming the streets of Fayetteville.
