When we knew it was almost time for our 15-year-old Boston terrier baby to leave us we started a search to find another girl who had a similar personality and disposition. We knew the new family member would need to be comfortable around a lot of different things: our grandchildren, our rambunctious teenage boys and their friends, cats, wheelchairs, large family gatherings, and the like. We also knew that she would have to be gentle and easily trainable, that she would need to be as happy curled up at our sides as she was going for a run. We searched, and we searched some more. And then we found the GSRA and Reba ...
Our veterinary network is one of the most important aspects of our rescue organization. Cross Creek Animal Hospital along with several other vets across NC play a crucial role with each and every dog that comes through our adoption program and their devotion and expertise allow us to continue saving GSD lives. We are grateful for the tireless efforts and compassionate care from veterinarian Dr. Timothy Jordan and the rest of the Cross Creek's dedicated staff. We encourage you to support those who support us!

On May 23, 2008 Caesar (formally known as Jake) found his forever home in Raleigh, NC. He settled in at 73lbs and had a few ups and downs in the first month. He and Raven got along well and he slept a lot during the first week. Around the middle of July he really came out of his shell and was finally interested in dog toys. He really had no idea what to do with tennis balls and stuffed animals.
Charlotte & her pups

Just a little over a year ago at our last reunion picnic on Aug. 25th, GSRA was graced with a new adoptee – Charlotte – a sweet, beautiful GS mix – and along with Charlotte, came her 7 gorgeous, adorable, incredible 2-week old puppies! One of our best volunteers, Rabecca, brought them all home and nurtured them all until the puppies were old enough to be adopted.
7 wonderful families from all over the state, adopted these magnificent pups.
Well, guess what? At this year’s reunion picnic, we had our own “family reunion” where Charlotte and all 7 puppies (now big, fluffy, beautiful dogs) were reunited for a great day together. Wow, those puppies have sure grown up! The joy these families shared is hard to put into words – so let the pictures speak for themselves.
Thanks Rabecca, for being the amazing foster mom you are. Thanks Maureen, for gathering the clan together.
